The Quick and the Daft

Lansdowne History Lesson

I recently stumbled across an interesting website, www.delawarecountyhistory.com, where you can view old photos and maps for all the municipalities in Delaware County.  The Lansdowne section has a detailed real estate atlas map from 1892 that is a fantastic resource.  It's great fun to see which houses existed at that time, and many of the street names are totally different.  You can view the map here: http://www.delawarecountyhistory.com/lansdowneborough/images/lansdownefull.jpg

It's slow to load, but well worth the wait.  Click on the map to zoom in.  The map is from 1 year before Lansdowne broke away from Upper Darby, so the borders are different from what we have now.
